On its 3rd year, Alaska Cycleasia Philippines is back this summer with exciting activities!

Since its debut in 2013 with over 2000 participants, Alaska Cycleasia Philippines has been consistent in providing venue to gathercyclists from all ages with pleasure of cyclingoutdoors. On May 14, more than a thousand cyclists who enlisted in the race will be sharing the roads once again. Ride categories vary from the Challenge Ride of 40 km and Community Ride of 20 km for the adults, while children as young as 2 years old can enjoy the Tricycle Ride and the Kids Ride.

In the Philippines, this event is part of Alaska’s “Nutrition. Action. Champion.” program of promoting a healthy and active lifestyle through sports participation and milk consumption. Through events like Cycle Philippines, Alaska hopes to reverse the effects of obesity and malnutrition in the country. According to the 7th National Nutrition Survey on 2008 which was conducted by Food and Nutrition Research Institute and the Department of Health, 2 out of 10 children are considered overweight and this amount to at least 16 million obese Filipinos. And nearly 3 out 10 are underweight. With low levels of physical activities, being overweight and underweight can lead to serious health problems. This led to Alaska’s promise in keeping families in their winning forms. The company goes beyond selling milk; it takes on its social responsibility to promote proper nutrition.

With Alaska Cycleasia Philippines, Filipinos can be part of a community activity that would help them become physically fit and healthy, enabling them to become winners in life. This event is part of Cycle Asia’s network of premier cycling events across the region that offers participants the rare and joyous opportunity to ride on safe and closed public roads in major Asian cities. Different iterations of the race have been held in Singapore and Malaysia, with plans for similar events in Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Myanmar, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Alaska Cycleasia Philippines is organized by Cycle Asia in collaboration with Alaska Milk Corporation and Sunrise Events Incorporated. The event is also sponsored by Ford, SM By the Bay, inside Mall of Asia Complex, Scott, Spyder, Sanicare, Garmin, F2P, Mc Donald’s, Regent, 2GO, Gatorade, Pioneer Insurance, and Cetaphil.
